The Third International Symposium on Flutter and its Application (ISFA2024)
    •   Introduction

    • ISFA, the International Symposium on Flutter and its Application, is an academic conference held periodically since its initiation in 2016 by the Japan Research Association of Flutter (JRAF). The first symposium, ISFA2016, was held in Tokyo, Japan, during May 15th to 17th, 2016, where fifteen countries participated and reached a consensus to hold the symposium every four years. The second symposium, ISFA2020, was planned to be held in Paris, France, from May 12th to 14th, 2020, but was unfortunately canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the cancellation, the organizers published a digital proceedings of the symposium to acknowledge the contributions of more than 160 authors from 21 countries.

Entrusted by the Chairperson Committee of ISFA, the third symposium, ISFA2024, will be co-hosted by Tongji University, the State Key Laboratory of Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering of China, and the Key Laboratory of Transport Industry of Bridge Wind Resistance Technology (Shanghai) of China. The symposium is scheduled to be held in Shanghai from May 24th to 26th, 2024.

    • Aim and Scope

    • The objectives of this symposium are to seek an integration scheme for traditional and fundamental technologies of flutter within a multidisciplinary research environment, including aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, wind and civil engineering, biological engineering, and sports engineering. Moreover, this symposium endeavors to establish novel areas, including energy conversion and bio-inspired mechanisms like flight or propulsion, through analytical or experimental concepts of flutter. Researchers and engineering consultants from around the world, including but not limited to experts, engineers, and postgraduate students, are cordially invited to submit papers to ISFA2024.
